INFATUATION

Infatuation is a strange thing. A bony creature thin with feeding on itself. It is addicted not to its subject, but to its own vain hunger And needs but a pretty face to fuel its rampant imagination. It's humid couch and sweaty palms. It's fleshy carpets ablaze with conquest. But when conquering is complete, the blood leaves its limbs and it becomes disenchanted. Disappointed even to the point of disgust with its subject, who sits then, like a hollow trunk, emptied of its precious cargo and left to fade like defeated naval ships. A seed relieved of its transparent husk, to dissolve finally on a rough and impatient tongue

Jewel

“If you love somebody; You better let it out; Don't hold it back; While you're trying to figure it out; Cause the only real pain a heart can ever know; Is the sorrow of regret; When you don't let your feelings show. So, did you say it, Did you mean it?”

In every moment a choice exists. We can cling to the past or embrace the inevitability of change and allow a brighter future to unfold before us. Such an uncertain future may call for even more uncertain allies. Either way, a new day is coming whether we like it or not. The question is will you control it, or will it control you?

“There can be no greater agony, nothing can be more painful than the not knowing, which will never end.”

Sylvia Plath, The Bell Jar

“Only I wasn't steering anything, not even myself.”

Criss Jami, Salomé: In Every Inch In Every Mile

“It always seems as though the definition of love will remain debatable by an opinionated world.”

Ron Rash, One Foot in Eden

“But nothing is solid and permanent. Our lives are raised on the shakiest foundations. You don't need to read history books to know that. You only have to know the history of your own life.”

The Buddha (from the Sutta Nipata)

“He who can curb his wrath as soon as it arises, as a timely antidote will check snake’s venom that so quickly spreads — such a monk gives up the here and the beyond, just as a serpent sheds its worn-out skin.”

The Buddha

“Conquer anger with non-anger. Conquer badness with goodness. Conquer meanness with generosity. Conquer dishonesty with truth.”

22 Ageless Life Lessons Everyone Can Learn From Aristotle

When you see the names Aristotle, Socrates, and Plato, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Probably just a bunch of old dudes who don’t really have any bearing in your life. You’ve probably asked yourself, “what can I really learn from someone who lived 2,300 years ago?”

In all honesty, the life lessons from these great men are timeless. They apply to our everyday lives in way most people don’t even comprehend. These men were some of the most wisest men to walk the Earth. Below you will find 22 ageless life lessons everyone can learn from Aristotle… don’t forget to read some life changing lessons from Socrates as well!
1. “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.”
2. “It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.”
3. “Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.”
4. “Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work.”
5. “It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light.”
6. “To avoid criticism say nothing, do nothing, be nothing.”
7. “Excellence is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, and intelligent execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives – choice, not chance, determines your destiny.”
8. “The wise man does not expose himself needlessly to danger, since there are few things for which he cares sufficiently; but he is willing, in great crises, to give even his life – knowing that under certain conditions it is not worthwhile to live.”
9. “There is no great genius without a mixture of madness.”
10. “The young are permanently in a state resembling intoxication.”
11. “We become just by performing just action, temperate by performing temperate actions, brave by performing brave action.”
12. “The worst form of inequality is to try to make unequal things equal.”
13. “Those that know, do. Those that understand, teach.”
14. “To run away from trouble is a form of cowardice and, while it is true that the suicide braves death, he does it not for some noble object but to escape some ill.”
15. “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”
16. “We must no more ask whether the soul and body are one than ask whether the wax and the figure impressed on it are one.”
17. “We praise a man who feels angry on the right grounds and against the right persons and also in the right manner at the right moment and for the right length of time.”
18. “You will never do anything in this world without courage. It is the greatest quality of the mind next to honor.”
19. “Youth is easily deceived because it is quick to hope.”
20. “What it lies in our power to do, it lies in our power not to do.”
21. “Whosoever is delighted in solitude is either a wild beast or a god.”
22. “Without friends no one would choose to live, though he had all other goods.”

"Not by hating hatred ceases
In this world of tooth and claw;

Kirei Kotomine (Fate/Zero)

Conflict is humanity's primal instinct. Eliminating it would mean eliminating humanity itself.

― Gildarts in Fairy tail

“Fear is not evil. It tells you what you weakness is. And once you know your weakness, you can become stronger as well as kinder.”

Archer ( Fate/stay night)

Defying me till the very end, huh? But I'll forgive you. Some things are beautiful exactly because they are unobtainable.

Kiritsugu Emiya (Fate/stay night)

I was reckless when I was young. I educated myself by cursing the heartlessness of the world. The world was cruel - so I made myself more heartless and used that as a weapon, trying to follow through on my ideals.

The Sick Rose

O Rose, thou art sick.
The invisible worm
That flies in the night
In the howling storm

Has found out thy bed
Of crimson joy,
And his dark secret love
Does thy life destroy.
